Waiting 'Til Harvest
The fervor of summer and long heated days,
the drying, warm breezes in afternoon sun,
make grasses turn brown, seeping groundwater scarce,
and signal the turn of the season's begun.
Grapes waiting 'til harvest, with patience, resigned,
the sun is no longer straight overhead, peaked,
just sixty days' biding will bring out ... more

The Peaceful Country
The Peaceful Country
The scenic beauty of the rolling hills,
of peaceful country, lulled by zephyr's touch,
draws those who manage time away from bills,
from urban clamor yuppies miss so much.
I often dreamed of living far away,
amid the pines and yellow aspen groves.
I'd build a home with nature on display,
a walk awa ... more

The Church in the Vineyard
The Church in the Vineyard
For years it had gathered the wicked and poor,
the church in the vineyard would open its door
to any whose faith wasn't true anymore.
The winery sat in the temple's garage,
once worked by the church's abject entourage,
converting their anger with moral massage.
The small congregation was thinni ... more

Column Recommends My Book
Hello, everyone.
Yesterday my book, “Trapping of the Years” was included in our local Las Vegas newspaper's literary column. The link is below. For those that don't know, I have been writing ekphrastic poetry (poems based on visual art, namely my photographs) for some time and in April, I had a collection published by ... more

Randomness
1. I love tattoos!
2. I run from anyone with a pickle if they look like they are going to get near me with it.
3. I have been in school for way too long and I'm not anywhere close to being done.
4. I love nothing more than to curl up with my man and watch movies all day in our pj's.
5. I'm terrified to have kids of ... more

A Hurtled Rock
A chunk of matter roaming through the void,
without regard for altitude's declines,
was drawn away from orbits once enjoyed
and hurtled to the atmosphere's confines.
The smoldering began with glowing red,
the heat and temper separated flakes
of rock and rubble in a molten thread,
that followed on the path of nature's brak ... more

The Ekphrasticator
The Ekphrasticator… that's what they'll be calling me. I just learned that there is a word for what I do with my poetry and photographs. From poets.org:
Ekphrasis (also spelled “ecphrasis”) is a direct transcription from the Greek ek, “out of,” and phrasis, “speech” or “expression.” It's often been translated simply as “de ... more

Mastodons and Gun Fights
Dear Readers,
Were we born into a boring era? I understand (and enjoy) the whole Wikipedia-based society with news zapped across the deep black emptiness of space in milliseconds, but is this evolution? Would the world be more exciting if India was a mystical, mysterious, far-off land (more so) than a country with a thi ... more

“Warm tears,” it begins
In a hazy nonsense world
Composing in dreams

Mind Jogging
Yesterday, Karissa and I met Adam for lunch. Between bites of Moe's burritos and salads (with unusual but delicious combination of black olives and cucumbers), we laughed about TMP memories and stories of far off places like Wisconsin, California, Nevada and Colorado. The whole wonderful occasion reminded me of the years ... more

Snowcone
God, unable to find any artificially flavored syrup amidst the clutter of the universe, turns his naked snowcone upside down, and dumps the wet, slushy mess all over Nashville.
Distraught by the absence of red cherry, purple grape, or yellow pineapple sweetness, the electricity throws a tantrum, holds its breath, and leave ... more

The Nashville Grays
It's a cold, gray day in Nashville. Strolling down the hill to retrieve the mail, the chilly, spring air numbs my cheeks and lips and fills my nose with the aroma of fabric softener as I pass dryer exhaust vents. The light fog and lighter mist remind me of San Francisco.
I return to the apartment and the waiting warmth ... more
